This isn't just a hike.

It isn't just a fundraiser.

Adjust Your Altitude is a life-changing endurance challenge that represents the mountain each young New Zealander faces when they are diagnosed with cancer.

The Challenge:

The Tongariro Crossing is a 19.4km hike through awe inspiring scenery in one of New Zealand's oldest National Parks and a dual world heritage site.  This is your opportunity to change the lives of young adult cancer patients throughout New Zealand, enjoy an epic adventure, get fit in the process!

The Goal:

It's not a race, our goal is to bring people together and build a community around our members facing the challenges that cancer brings.  We want to assemble a passionate group of survivors, carers and supporters to take on this challenge together and show the young adult cancer community that they NEVER have to go through cancer alone.

Isolation is one of the biggest issues faced by young adults with cancer, so all money raised through Adjust Your Altitude is going towards our vital Peer-Support services.

Dates:

Friday 23rd - Monday 26th November, 2018

We have booked accommodation for 3 nights which will give us a buffer day to do the crossing.  Sometimes the weather can impede efforts to cross, so it is best to have a back up day!

Cost:

$379

This includes 3 nights shared accommodation with Pipers Lodge at the Tongariro National Park, all meals, packed lunch for the walk, guides from the amazing team at Adventure Outdoors Tongariro Guiding, all hiking gear included, return shuttle from our accommodation to the hike, our snazzy team t-shirt and our handy info and fundraising pack!

(It doesn't include your travel costs to get to Pipers Lodge).

Fundraising commitment:

$1120 (that's the starting altitude of our hike!)

We are asking that each participant commit to fundraising a minimum of $1120 each as part of our Adjust Your Altitude Challenge. If you have not raised the minimum by the time you check in for the crossing, you will need to make a donation of that remaining amount in order to participate.

Never Raised that much money before?! Fear not! We are committed to supporting you all the way!  Once you register to join us and pay your deposit we will send out a fundraising resource, a letter you can use to ask friends and family for sponsorship, help you set up a fundraising page and add you to our closed Tongariro facebook group so that we can all share ideas, ask questions and support one another as we work towards our goal.

The Fine Print:

1. With a minimum fundraising amount, you need to have raised that amount by the time we start our hike, otherwise you are not eligible to join us.  We will be able to refund the amount of your trip, minus the $150 non-refundable deposit.  This covers our admin time and bookings and deposits we've had to make as a charity before the hike.

2. Payment of your deposit is required at the time of registration.  The remaining payment of $229 is required a month before we leave (don't worry, we'll remind you).  If you need to cancel your trip, you can do so up to a week before we leave and get the $229 back.

3. This is an alpine hike and a moderate to good level of fitness is required.  We will be on a guided tour with experienced guides but we cannot guarantee that we will be reaching the Ketatahi end. Safety regarding, weather, group safety, ice and hypothermia are always taken into consideration and can affect our exact route for the day.

4. Get excited, we are!  This trip is going to be epic!!
